What is HITRUST?

HITRUST (Health Information Trust Alliance) is a privately held company that works in collaboration with health care organizations (e.g., carriers, Third Party Administrators, General Agencies), technology, and information security leaders to establish security framework designed to store information. It requires an extensive audit of security measures and practices to determine whether information both stored and shared is secure.

Receiving a HITRUST certification is not a requirement of being deemed HIPAA compliant; however, it shows customers of companies proactively earning the certification that their commitment to consumer security is strong.

Word & Brown General Agency announced selected systems* used by the company have earned Certified status for information security by HITRUST.

HITRUST CSF Certified status demonstrates Word & Brown’s systems* have met key regulatory requirements and industry-defined requirements and the organization is appropriately managing risk. This achievement places Word & Brown in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification. By including federal and state regulations, standards, and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.
