Aetna Funding Advantage (AFA) is a new option for your California business clients with 2-200 employees. Coverage is available for September 1, 2024, effective dates, and later.

Everyone benefits with AFA plans because they offer these significant advantages:
  • Employers and members get a full suite of solutions they can use to get care and stay healthy.
  • Clients enjoy financial stability – like with a fully insured plan – but have the opportunity to get money back if there’s a surplus.
  • Affordable, easy-to-use care options + value-added extras at a low cost or no cost to the member.
  • Reduced impact of insurance premium taxes.

Multiple plan design choices, including three new plans:
  • Broad portfolio of Open Access plans; up to four plans per group; $500-$2,500 deductibles; 80-100% in-network; 50% out-of-network; HSA TIF plan with
    $2,250 deductible.
  • $3,000 100/50 $0 LXR - NEW
  • HSA $4,000 100/50 E - NEW
  • HSA $4,500 80/50 E - NEW

AFA plans also offer members access to additional care, including:
  • Aetna Smart Compare®: helping members find the right health care providers
  • MinuteClinic®: services at no cost or a lower member cost at CVS®
    Pharmacy locations
  • Strong family planning benefits
  • Infertility: Coverage for artificial insemination under the Basic infertility benefit
