Business Insurance
has selected The Word & Brown Companies among its “Best Places to Work in Insurance” for 2022. The award recognizes outstanding insurance-related employers for their outstanding performance in establishing workplaces where employees can thrive, enjoy their work, and help the companies grow.

Based in Orange, California, The Word & Brown Companies includes three businesses: the Word & Brown General Agency, a leader in developing and distributing health benefit plan solutions to individuals and employers through licensed insurance agents; CHOICE Administrators, the parent organization of the CaliforniaChoice multi-carrier, small business health insurance exchange and the ChoiceBuilder ancillary benefits exchange; and the California Rx Card, a prescription drug discount program.

“We are very excited to be recognized as one of the top insurance companies to work for by Business Insurance,” said Word & Brown co-founder John M. Word III. “It’s proof that our commitment to building and maintaining a thriving culture for our people is appreciated by employees whether they’re working in our headquarters or remotely.”

“We know our success during the past 37 years is a direct result of the great people we have working here,” said Word & Brown co-founder Edward J. “Rusty” Brown, Jr. “It’s rewarding to know employees appreciate what we are doing for them as much as we appreciate what they are doing for our customers.”

Best Places to Work in Insurance is an annual sponsored-content feature presented by the Custom Publishing unit of Business Insurance and Best Companies Group. It lists agents, brokers, insurance companies, and other providers with the highest levels of employee engagement and satisfaction.

Best Companies Group identifies the leading employers in the insurance industry by conducting a free two-part assessment of each company. The first part is a questionnaire completed by the employer about company policies, practices, and demographics. The second part is a confidential employee survey on engagement and satisfaction.

The Best Places to Work program divides employers into the categories of small, 25-249 employees; medium, 250-999 employees; and large, 1,000 or more employees. This year’s report features 100 companies of various sizes, from twenty-five to more than 4,000 employees.

The ranking and profiles of the winning companies will be published in the November issue of Business Insurance and online at BusinessInsurance.com.
