Below is a snapshot of what you can expect on your Cigna Large Group business:
  • Participation Requirement: 50% when Cigna is the sole carrier, with a 50/50 minimum split enrollment when alongside Kaiser Permanente (subject to minimum below)
  • Minimum Enrolled: 25 employees
  • Network Choices: Six network options are available
    • Cigna OAP – Full PPO-style network
    • Cigna OAP HSA – Full PPO-style network HDHP plan
    • Cigna Local Plus – High performance focused network (98% of OAP hospitals, 72-74% of OAP providers)
    • Cigna Full HMO – Full HMO network
    • Cigna Value HMO – Mid-tier HMO network, only available in Southern California
    • Cigna SoCal Select – Narrow HMO network, only available in Southern California
  • Plan Offerings: Cigna suggests a maximum of four plans (and combination of networks or plans); example is Full HMO, Select HMO, OAP, and OAP HSA; can add additional plans for the right case 
    (Note: Cigna custom designs every plan to match current benefits; company does not offer a set of “prepackaged plans”; hence, the four plan limit works for most groups of under 500 employees.)
  • Preferred Industries: Cigna writes cross industry, but clients choosing Cigna tend to have a set of common attributes, such as: 
    • Cigna OAP – Full PPO-style network
    • Cigna OAP HSA – Full PPO-style network HDHP plan
    • Cigna Local Plus – High performance focused network (98% of OAP hospitals, 72-74% of OAP providers)
    • Cigna Full HMO – Full HMO network
